The ShadeFlex® Cloud Canopy is easy to measure for and install to both new and existing structures. For more detailed instructions, we recommend downloading the ShadeFlex® Cloud Measuring and Install guides.
To being, measure the distance between the center of the desired mounting rafters at three different points. Repeat this step for every bay.
For freestanding structures, measure the distance between beams. Ensure the space is clear of obstructions at least 13 inches below the rafters.
For attached structures, measure the distance between the wall and the corresponding beam or wall.
Measure the outside distance between the desired first and last rafters that will be used to mount the tracks. Next, determine if a canopy overhang is desired.
Ensure there is at least 13 inches of vertical clearance under the mounting surface along the rafter projection.
*If there is less than 13 inches of clearance, consult with a Shade Specialist for custom handle lengths.
If there is less than 13” clearance, consult with the Shade Specialist for custom handle lengths.
Determine the required track length by subtracting 2 inches from measurement B.
For this step, we recommend referencing your measurement guide.
Determine the track center-to-center spacing by first subtracting 4 inches from measurement B. This creates the necessary gap between the outer tracks and the adjacent surface to allow for WindLock installation. Divide dimension E by the desired number of canopies.
For this step, we recommend referencing your measurement guide.
Begin 2 inches from the track end and pre-drill holes. These holes should be spaced every 12 to 18 inches apart using a 1/8 inch drill bit.
If the track will be installed perpendicular to the rafters, match the hole spacing to the rafter spacing.
Insert an end cap into the front end of each track by compressing the spring tab slightly and inserting it into the track.
Secure the track to the mounting surface. Ensure the track is level and that the track center to center dimension matches what is shown in the installation guide.
For tracks installed along rafters, ensure there is a minimum 2 inch gap on one side of the structure to allow for canopy installation.
For tracks installed perpendicular to the rafters, secure with screws at each rafter location along the length of the track. Ensure the track is not mounted flush against either side. Maintain a minimum offset of 2 inch from the center of the track to each side
Determine the correct orientation of the canopy by identifying the front slide lock and the roller lock pin.
For attached configurations, the roller lock pin will be located on the wall side.
For freestanding configurations, the roller lock pin will be located on the side where the fabric will collect when retracted.
Begin installation at the rear of the structure with the crossmember containing the front slide lock. Insert the first crossmember into both tracks simultaneously with the locking tab facing downward.
Next, install mid crossmembers into both tracks at the same time.
Install the last crossmember into the tracks. The roller lock pin should face towards the front of the canopy.
Position this final crossmember at the desired stopping point for the canopy, measuring from a fixed reference point to ensure consistent placement across all canopies. Once positioned, tighten the roller lock pin set screw.
Insert the remaining end caps at the rear of each track.
